Conference Art

Here’s my proposed art for this fall’s Kansas SCBWI Conference.  I sent them a version with and without text.  Of course, I don’t know if they’ll decide to use it, but I wanted to share.  I’m very proud of how it came out.

  1. UPDATE: They’re using this one for the conference. They’re also using two other pieces by other artists that submitted. I guess the three of us are just so awesome that they couldn’t decide! 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing what the other two came up with. 🙂 Colleen says they will be in the KS SCBWI newsletter.

  2. I love the color scheme, lighting, and expressions, too! And the cat’s face is perfect. Very nice, Karen.

It’s funny–the piece I submitted for the conference has purple in it, too. It must be a magical color.

  3. Strong! The colors and lighting are very enchanting and the tentacle-esque fumes and dazzling magic dust are great touches. Nice piece, Karen!

  4. Karen, this is my favorite of your pieces that I have seen. I love the purple and black, and the lighting from the cauldron is really nice. Thanks for sharing!
